How to turn the steering gear to a specified angle?

Servo motor timing diagram

The control line is used to transmit the angle control signal. This angle is determined by the duration of the control signal pulse, which is called pulse code modulation (PCM). The control of the steering gear generally requires a time base pulse of about 20ms, the high level part of the pulse is generally in the range of 0.5ms-2.5ms, and the total interval is 2ms. The width of the pulse will determine the distance the motor turns. For example: a 1.5 millisecond pulse, the motor will turn to a position of 90 degrees (usually called the neutral position, for a 180° steering gear, it is the 90° position). If the pulse width is less than 1.5 milliseconds, then the motor axis faces 0 degrees. If the pulse width is greater than 1.5 milliseconds, the axial direction is 180 degrees. Taking the 180 degree steering gear as an example, the corresponding control relationship is as follows:

0.5ms————-0 degrees;

1.0ms————45 degrees;

1.5ms————90 degrees;

2.0ms———–135 degrees;

2.5ms————180 degrees;
