Technical Issues Summary:
Are R74B 5.0 and R74C compatible with each other?
The product pin definitions are different. R74B 5.0 is a U.2 hard drive enclosure, while R74C is a U.3 hard drive enclosure. They are not compatible with each other. Please note the distinction.
Do models R74B and R74C support PCIe 5.0?
Laboratory testing using our company's adapter card shows that R74B can still achieve PCIe 5.0. The test data is shown in the figure below:

Why does the casing get very hot during use?
Hard drives generate heat during use. The hard drive enclosure uses a CNC aluminum alloy casing and transfers heat from the SSD to the casing via a thermal pad, so the casing will become noticeably hot. This is to better dissipate heat from the SSD.
