First off let me say I am an amateur drone operator. So my review is not based on an expert operator, just a normal geek. I've been wanting to get one for a long time and have looked at many different models. So I did quite a bit of reading about the different ones.
So about 6 weeks ago I decided on this Elfie by JJRC. Mainly because after doing quite a bit of research I learned that JJRC is a serious and well-respected drone manufacturer. They make some incredible (and high-end) drones, but they also make models for beginners like me. But also because this has a very cool HD video camera built in.
What I found out is that even though this Elfie is perfect for someone like me just starting out, it would also satisfy the advance and experience drone operators. I know this for a fact because my friend who has many high-end drones was using this with me and said he loved it. He said it had all the cool features and abilities that expensive drones have.
The main point about this particular drone is that it's the world's smallest drone. It literally fits in my shirt pocket! And it's designed to take selfies... which I guess is why this model is called Elfie .
It's unbelievably super easy to get it set up and get started. First of all, when I opened up the box, everything I needed was there... the Elfie drone, a nice soft velvet storage bag, 4 extra propeller blades, a rechargeable 500mAh rechargeable battery, a micro USB card reader, a USB power charger, and of course a really detailed owner's manual. I also needed to download the app which becomes the controller for the Elfie. The app is available on both Google Play or iTunes.
The way this is controlled I think it's pretty unique. It's not a done the uses RF or anything like that.... it uses WiFi! This Elfie drone actually transmits a WiFi signal, so I simply sign on to that Wi-Fi signal with my phone. Once my phone is signed onto the Elfie's WiFi, it instantly becomes the controller!
Now my phone is connected to the drone directly and I'm able to control it, download pictures, take HD videos, and take selfies of course!
This has a lot of features and technology that is very valuable to a beginner like me. First of all, I can limit the height so it will never go over a certain height. I can have it automatically follow me so it won't fly away. Also, I can limit the power so it operates slower. When I'm operating the Elfie I can actually see the video on my phone in real time. So I can actually see what the drones seeing while looking at my phone. And the HD video this takes is pretty amazing. And it's super simple. It records video and high definition and also takes high quality still images.
I've been using this way more than I thought I would over the last few weeks. And although it's fun to use in the house, I highly recommend not doing that. You need a lot more space to truly control it properly. I also highly recommend practicing with it for a few hours before you try to do any crazy tricks. After a few hours of using it, it becomes a lot easier to control.
I love it! Lot's of fun and I love taking aerial video and photos! So I highly recommend it.

Very nice fordable drone. When it is folded it becomes very small that it can even fit in my pocket. I would have preferred if it came with a remote control but it works ok with the phone app. Over all built quality is decent. It came with extra propellers so now I am not as worried about damaging them since I have alternatives. Front and back lights look very cool. Front lights are actually pretty bright. Th camera quality is very much(better than any other drone I have seen around this price range). It is a great deal for beginners.

I very happy for this purchase. You can make picture and video, even you can control by your phone. It will work 100 feet around . The connection with my Samsung Galaxy was very quick. The camera is decent for it's size and overall takes pretty good video. The spare parts that are included are really great.

This is a really fun mini drone!
Well, first off, this is a pocket drone so it was actually smaller than I thought from the pictures.
I was able to charge up the battery with the included USB adapter.
Would have been nice if the battery accepted micro USB input.
After downloading the app, I was able to pair up the drone and my phone and within 10 minutes I had it flying all around the yard.
Range is pretty good. Flying time was just under 10 minutes so I might suggest getting some backup batteries that were also pretty cheap.
Pictures are pretty sharp. I had some issues with the video, but that might have been my phone acting up so I'll have to test that part later.
For the money, I think it's well worth it and a lot of fun.

Wow! This is super light. Which tells me it can fly for longer times, but also is more vulnerable in wind. Even though it is light, it is build for minor crashes. It also comes with spare gears and propellers in case you break any. The arms will fold in for easy transport and storage, but will also fold in instead of breaking sitting a crash. I have a racing drone with folding arms, and it has survived many crashes because of it. So far I have only had hard landings on grass, but you can barely even see any cosmetic damage. If you do need to change a propeller, look closely at the underside. They are labeled, and you should replace them with the propeller with the same numbers. It matters because each proper spins different directions in order to make the drone more stable and prevent it from being in a constant rotation. It only has range for as far as you WiFi signal can reach. I found that getting away from homes and businesses will increase the range because of less interference. It is a little tricky to get used to at first, but it has a lot of features to help make it easier. As you get better at it, you can change setting to make it faster and able to do more advanced tricks. The video quality it great and easy to see even though all the buttons and controlls are overlayed on the screen. It is kind of nice because you can see the controlls and what your drone sees without having to look away. You can take pictures and video that save directly to your phone. So if you do lose the drone, you will still have the pictures and video at least. It has options to return to you and to face you for a selfie, so somehow it is smart enough to know were you are without GPS. It can also hold its elevation, which is nice because I tend to over or under power my bigger drone and cause it to dip into the ground or gradually climb until I can't see it. This drone does not dip during directional flight, which mades it much easier to control and prevent crashing. It has headlights and taillights to make it easier to know which way is forward, but also helps you know the status such as wireless connection, calibration, and low battery. This is a very fun toy that takes great pictures, and it is very inexpensive. It came with a bag to help protect it. It is small enough that you can easily carry it in your pants pocket so that you can have it with you whenever you want. I have also found that you can buy spare parts and extra batteries and chargers if you need or want them. If you want to take great selfies or just learn to fly drones, this is a great way to get started in the hobby without losing a lot of money by crashing a new expensive drone. Start with this and them move up to the big toys.

I've seen and used many different kinds of drones. I've used the large DJI phantom, and smaller FPV drones marketed as selfie drones. They're all touted as pocket drones. This is the first drone i've seen that is literally capable of fitting into your pocket. I could not believe how small this was. The battery will give you an 8 minute flight and you can quickly recharge it and be off again.
I like the headless mode , and the flip function. My favorite is probably the one touch landing and that it will land on its own if the battery runs low. Not all drones include spare parts and for those to be included with this is a huge plus - especially at the price.
I prefer using a remote control because they generally have better battery life and improved range performance over a cellphone but given the context - that this is supposed to be ultra portable and to be used on the go whenever you want to - want to worry about as few parts as possible - the drone itself and your cellphone. You're ready to fly.

I'm a beginning drone flyer, but I absolutely love playing with these things. I found this little pocket drone and decided to give it a shot. It came with a 500mAh battery, spare props and gears, USB charger, carrying sleeve, and instructions. The build on this is pretty good. It's not cheap plastic like I was expecting and seems pretty sturdy. I'm not very good at flying, so it has certainly taken a beating and kept flying. You control it by downloading some software to your smartphone and use it as the controller. It took awhile to get used to it, but I was able to fly it around pretty good after just a little while. It uses a wireless connection to control the drone from your smartphone, and surprisingly, it held good and I didn't have any reception issues. I've had a lot of fun with this drone, even though I'm still learning how to fly these things. Due to it's low price, this is a good way to get your feet wet with flying drones without putting in a huge investment.

This drone comes with the drone, a battery for the drone, an instruction manual, spare propellers and a USB stick which is used to charge the battery and transfer photos and videos. Inside the manual there is is a QR code. The set up of the drone is extremely easy and the app is extremely well made. In addition, the drone itself is very durable. I am a terrible pilot and I crashed the drone tons of times but it still works and there are only a few scratches. The best part about his drone is he portability. It folds into the size of a phone and I can easily bring it around in my pocket.

fun to fly around. very lightweight pocket drone. drone folds up in a rectangle so easy to carry in pocket. it runs for about 5 mins on a standard charge. has 6 axles. is the size to fit in palm. It does not comes with a transmitter which is preferred but an app you download to phone. it take a bit of figuring out how to fly using phone app but once you do it is very nice. it also takes vids and pics. I have other drones and this one is not my go to one but a great one to carry on the go or to use when big drones are charging. watch out if it is windy also. when the battery starts going dead it kinda go a little wonky.

I have been having so much fun with this mini drone. I am so stoked on it. This drone is so easy to fly it took a bit to get it but once I did wow it is so much fun the camera is quite good. The worst part is the battery does not stay charged for long enough. I would like to just keep flying this thing all day. I chased my dog and baby around ever since I got home from work. I tried to fly it just with the camera and I can't do it yet it is very hard. It takes about an hour to charge then you are off and flying again. I am completely new to this drone flying but this is a great start for me. I would advise you to buy it's today now and get it shipped to your house as soon as possible so you can have as much fun as me.......

First thing first: This thing reminds of the Maven Drone since it has the exact same kind of portability. I can litterally fit this in my pocket and take it out anytime I want to! This built quality on this pretty good for its price and the camera quality is good too. I own two drone which is a SYMA and the Breeze by Yuneec. This drone falls in between these two. The drone actually stay in the air without any control which I find amazing since most cheap drones don't do that. It took me sometime to figure out how to control the drone but once you figure it out you'll have fun.

This little guy is pretty awesome and FUN!!!
After I opened the box, I was pretty happy to see and feel that this was not a tiny piece of plastic junk. It has a nice feel to it with smooth edges.
I love the way it folds and unfolds because I can take it anywhere and it does not take up a lot of space in my back pack.
I found the connection to my Samsung Galaxy was quick and effortless. (Read instructions)
I flew it at 30% inside and 100% outside as we live on a large lake and have pretty strong wind gusts at times.
My dog goes crazy over this and is a lot of fun to watch him chase it as well as great exercise for the old hound.
The flip function works and the controls are easy once you get the hang of them.
The one touch landing is a nice feature and it will land on it's own if the batteries get too low.
I estimate the distance before the signal drops off is about 120 feet.
The camera is decent for it's size and overall takes pretty good video.
The spare parts that are included are really great.
I suggest buying more batteries to have charged up and ready to go to extend flight time. Takes about 2 hours to charge the battery from dead to 100%
This is a fun little drone and will make a great gift!

This pocket drone is the coolest little drone that I own. It's so small and can fit anywhere. I mostly keep it in my backpack so that way I can fly it whenever I want. In the box you get the drone, extra parts, a battery, and a charger for the battery. The way you fly the drone is by using a app on your phone. I felt like it was easier to fly on my Galaxy S7 edge because it was a bigger screen. At first the Drone was a little hard to fly but once I got the hang of it it got easier. I can fly the drone and have full control over it. The controls on the app are easy to use and work just as they should. They stay connected to Drone throughout my entire flight time. I have not had any problems with this Drone at all. The only thing I don't like about the Drone is the flight time but with such a small battery it's to be expected. It lasts just as long as any other small toy drones which is about 5-6 minutes. The selfie camera works really good and the Drone is also capable of filming videos. All your pictures and videos are saved on the app.
