Operating Principle:
Broadband amplifier feeder circuits, where high frequencies are affected by parasitic capacitance parameters and performance drops dramatically, require a BiasTee for the feeder.
BiasTee consists of ultra-broadband, near-idealised, high-frequency inductors and capacitors with no resonance points.
Diaphragm capacitors: isolate DC and prevent leakage of DC voltage to subsequent circuits or test instruments.
High frequency inductors: isolate AC information and prevent leakage of high frequency signals into the supply system.
Applications:
A) Wideband amplifiers
Some wideband amplifiers, which do not have an internal bulkhead capacitor and whose outputs need to be powered, require biasers.
Some amplifiers with integrated internal isolation capacitors do not require additional biasers.
B) Fibre optic communication, laser drive
The drive current required for the laser diode, which is injected via the DC side of the bias.
The communication data is injected via the RF side.
C) Other applications such as test and measurement.
